Living in the Now | Ensuring a Better Tomorrow

In today’s society, we are consistently forcing ourselves to look ahead, plan ahead and prepare for a better tomorrow. We open Savings Accounts, insure our deaths, and even teach our children, a penny saved is a penny earned. But is it really? Have you ever noticed every time you get ahead, you get struck down? It happened to me… So why do we struggle with this and defy the very will of God with these plans?

The Lord created Adam in the Garden where planning was never a part of His existence. Before Adam and Eve ate of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, or “TOKOGAE“, Adam lived a very leisurely and easy life! He never worried about where his next meal came from… There was plenty of meals in the garden! He never worried about working or tilling the garden… It produced fruit trees and God never mentioned Adam picking weeds while he was there. He never worried about animals harming him, He ruled over the animals. His Adamic Nature before TOKOGAE was basically living moment to moment and hanging out with God. He ate when he was hungry and slept when he was tired. He walked and talked in the gardens with God, never worrying about his existence or what was to come of him tomorrow. He had NO worry.

Matthew 6:25-34

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

creation-47473_1280First of all, doesn’t that sound just lovely! I would love to achieve that level of relaxation! To think, not a care in the world! We as believers hold on to that as a hope of heaven, don’t we? No worries? So why aren’t we living that way now! What happened to Adam when he ate of TOKOGAE? What happened to Adam’s NATURAL STATE? He became aware of his nakedness! His faults! His UNBELIEF! His DOUBT! Why? Because He now had the notion of what HE THOUGHT, was GOOD & EVIL. Wow. When we think we know what is right or wrong for us, we mess it all up. Instead of just relying on God to take care of us, we plan and strive to do the “right thing” and somehow get very screwed up at the end of it all. So, the result is that we gained WORRY from TOKOGAE. TOKOGAE gave us the Nature of Worry.

Genesis 3:11

11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?

When we as believers turn our lives over to the Lord, we essentially are asking Christ to come into our lives, into our souls, and make us like Him so we too can walk and talk with our Heavenly Father and feel no worry about it. So we can worry less about what we do and have God do it for us. When this happens, the Bible says we are BORN AGAIN. Well, what does the really mean?

When we are born as humans, we are born, or “begotten” after the SEED of our Human Father and Mother, correct? Ok, well, within that SEED is the NATURE of MAN, or… The NATURE of our True Human Father – ADAM. The problem is, that it’s AFTER TOKOGAE nature, not before. BUT! When we become BORN AGAIN, we are then SEPARATED from the Seed of Adam and RE-BORN OF SPIRIT! Meaning that God Plants a SEED and we are born again of that seed, replacing the seed of Adam. Notice I said REPLACING the seed of Adam! I did not say, “adding to” the seed of Adam. Therefore, when we “get saved” we become SEED of GOD or HAVING NATURE of GOD! WOW! That means we can live in the nature of God RIGHT NOW!

apple-2788613_1920Ask yourself this question, what is the NATURE of an Apple tree? What does it naturally produce? If you said, apples, you are correct! So, what does a pear tree produce? Pears! Correct again! Now, ask this question…

Can an apple tree just decide one day that it wants to be a pear tree?

If it tries really hard, focuses on it day in and day out to produce a pear, can it do it?

Sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it! So… When we try really hard to be more “Christian like”, what happens? We act more human huh? When we get saved, we basically ask Him to “take the wheel” right? So why do we always jump right back into the drivers seat?

See, when you exercise the NATURE of ADAM, when you “try” you fail. It is the NATURE of the LAW of TOKOGAE that will continue to prove that doing it with the perception of right and wrong is the hard way. But when we do it GOD’S WAY, we can NEVER FAIL!

Romans 7:7-12

The law is good, perfect and holy but cannot help you be good, perfect or holy.

So what does it really mean when we plan for our future, insure our deaths and build our savings accounts for a rainy day? It means we are worried that God won’t be enough if something were to happen to us. Plain and simple. We shift our focus of faith on to ourselves instead of keeping wholly placed in God. And that “Faith” we think we’re exercising isn’t faith at all, it’s called pride. You see, Faith is a Noun and it comes to us from our Heavenly Father. Do you think God has FAITH in US or Himself? Who do you think God counts on when things need rearranging in our lives? Us? I hope not!

StockSnap_MIEUO2F68ILet me rephrase that. When we can’t do it anymore and we’ve run out of options on the side of a cliff, who do we pray too? Ourselves? Or do we call out to our Heavenly Father to save us!

Recently, I went through a situation where I lost my job. Two months before the end of the year, (which is not a great time to start a new career, by the way). I searched and searched, I re-built my resume, I created this website, I re-created my business, I tried everything to organize a way to earn money for my household. We went 3 months without paying the rent! I prayed and sought the Lord for Guidance. I cried and moaned about my worry and angst. I became so frustrated, that I finally decided I couldn’t take it anymore! I was going to fix things. I was going to take charge and change my life. I wasn’t going to sit around and wait for the inevitable. I was going to sell everything and move out of state. I knew what was best for me. I had just enough money coming from my state and federal refunds and I had to plan for tomorrow. So, I told my fiance I was leaving the state and leaving him. His only answer to me was, wait, slow down, and BELIEVE that God had a plan for us and BELIEVE that it was going to work out.

Romans 5:20

19 For as through the one man’s disobedience (Adam’s eating of TOKOGAE), the many were made sinners, but even so through the obedience of the one (the Human life and walk of Jesus) the many shall be made righteous, (made morally right & justifiable; virtuous)20 And the law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace did abound more exceedingly 21 that, as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I didn’t move. I waited instead and you know what? The day my refund came, I got offered a job! A good job! A job that gave me hope for the future that I was so worried about! The Lord waited till the very last day with no plans, no money and no way to open the door for me. He did this so that I would truly understand He is in control of my life, not me. So that next time when things don’t go the way I “planned” them to, that I would have FAITH instead of WORRY!

You see, the Lord in all of his magnificent ways has got us totally and completely figured out. There is NOTHING we can do to make His plan for us better. The whole point of the law is to magnify His Grace for us! The law and worry is there to remind us of How Great He is and how WE CAN’T, BUT HE CAN! Today, focus on God fulfilling your TODAY. Live in the moment. I mean truly live for just today. BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING! Tomorrow has enough worries of its own! And we will see the miraculous works right before our very eyes! Praise God, He loves us so much more than we could ever possibly imagine.

Enjoy this Video by Steven Scheffler! He encourages us to STOP WORRYING! Amen! Martha was a Worry Wart in the bible… I was too… I feel like the Lord has always been working on my worry through this song my Father wrote years ago. So, listen up! Is God working on your Worry? If so, let Him! Being in the Garden is such a better place to be!
